Day 3, cabin fever

It rained and it rained. It’s six o’clock and it’s rained all day πŸ˜“. Mampa was quite pleased since her legs weren’t working properly today. She walked like a puppet on a string, arms and legs going in all sorts of directions. The last two days of walking up and down steep mountainsides had made her realise that she had muscles that she hadn’t used in a long time and that these muscles were telling her that they didn’t like being used any more. Hopefully with a day off, her muscles will stop complaining and do their job properly when we start walking again tomorrow. In the meantime we’ve been stuck here in the hotel so I’ve taken some pictures of the hotel for you. This first one is the courtyard inside the hotel.

This next one is inside the main room.

And this one is mampa in the bar downstairs.

This is the food and wine that we’re about to eat.

Exciting isn’t it ? I don’t think so either.

Last night though was very exciting.

Today is a very important day in Spain. It’s the day that the three Kings (wise men) arrived in Bethlehem and today is when all the children in Spain get their Christmas presents. They got one or two presents on Christmas day but today is the day when they get lots of presents. Last night there were lots of fireworks and then a huge procession through the streets. There were hundreds of children dressed up in beautiful red and blue and gold costumes, huge giraffes and camels as tall as a house. Dragons and all sorts of animals paraded outside the hotel. There must have been thousands and thousands of people lining the streets and taking photographs.

I didn’t have my camera when the giraffes and camels went past but I ran upstairs and managed to take a video of some of the children going past. I tried uploading the video so that you could see and hear some of it but it wouldn’t upload I’m afraid. I’ll show you when we get home.

We did try going out twice today but each time we got soaked and had to come back to the hotel to change. The rooves of the houses and hotels around here have pipes that stick out into the street and water pours off the roof into the street but missing the pavement.

Can you see the pipes?

That’s it for today; nothing exciting. We’re leaving this hotel tomorrow morning and we’re going to move to a really nice hotel up in the mountains. I’ll write another blog tomorrow with pictures of mampa on another walk up a mountain. πŸ’•
