We’re on our way. We’ve checked the dogs into pet passport control and we’re waiting for our vegan Brazilian black bean and a falafel wrap from Leon. The dogs are relaxing in the car whilst we eat. They ate earlier while we charged at an IONITY charger in the services 3.8 miles earlier. The car is remarkably efficient, 4.4 miles per kW giving us a range of 172 miles after travelling front Oxford at slightly less (65) than motorway speeds.
We’re ensconced in the budget Ibis near the now silent train station. We were recommended a small bar/restaurant only 350m from the hotel. After a superb vegan Thai soup and stir fry we’re lying on our bed holding our bloated stomachs and groaning quietly. The dogs were well behaved (sort of) and have finally settled to sleep on the floor.
Charging at IONITY en route has been excellent. There aren’t lots of them but they’re well spaced for our purposes and there are many, many other suppliers on the motorways so getting to Avoriaz won’t be a problem I’m sure.
There’s nothing particularly memorable about today. The M40/M25/M26/M20 had relatively light traffic, the roads in France/Belgium are clearly better than anything we have in the UK these days and the other drivers are pretty decent in the main.
The vet’s appointment is at 08:30 tomorrow morning and Reims is less than 300km from Bruges so it’ll be a fairly lazy day.
Bon voyage
