It’s nearly 10 a.m. and after a decent breakfast in the hotel we’re meandering down to the bus station to catch the 11:30 autobús to Valença.



Yesterday’s flight was uneventful. I fell asleep and missed take off but Dorothy assured me that it had all gone off well enough. We arrived in Galicia ahead of time, got the bus (€1 each for a 10km journey) which took us to within a few metres of the hotel. The hotel was ok, expensive but Santiago appears to be pretty full this time around. Interestingly pilgrims arriving in Santiago in April and May are more numerous than at any other time of year: 50,000+.
We’ve stopped at a pleasant café next to a laundrette that we’ve used before for what is now my third café americano and Dorothy’s first té manzanilla. it’s shaping up to be a very pleasant day, relatively cold but sunny. Apparently Valença is currently bathed in sunshine, so …
