Gatwick

Heading back to Santiago de Compostela with Vueling. We’ll stay tonight at Hotel Avenida (not started there before, our favourite hotel Compostela is fully booked). Prior to that is the small matter of getting through security here, Dorothy gets frisked perhaps 80% of the time, me, rarely. What is it about little white haired grandmothers that inspire closer inspection.

Many thanks to Menna and Andy for getting us to the main bus station early this morning.

😊

The driver was excellent, considerate and didn’t bat an eyelid when we told him that we wanted to use our bus passes (why not) to High Wycombe before purchasing a return ticket to Gatwick. £70 instead of £90, not to be sniffed at – that’s six cups of coffee.

We’ve stopped momentarily in Pret A Manger for coffee and to re adjust our bags in preparation for checking in.

Because we use walking poles throughout (they keep our arms raised and avoid the unpleasant large carrot fingers) we need to book at least one bag in to the hold. We we have a 15kg limit so we can stuff pretty much all of Dorothy’s kit into it leaving her bag to carry only the essentials, phones, kindles, boox etc.

In a moment we’ll make our way through security and grab some lunch in anticipation of a 3 hour flight to Spain.

So far, so good.

Buen camino
