Portuguese 2024

It’s Saturday 16th March and Dorothy and I are heading off tomorrow to walk the coastal route of the Portuguese Camino from Porto to Santiago. In 2019 at pretty much this exact time of the year we walked the central route with Tom and Juanita. It turned out to be a lovely, gentle walk and we’re hoping for something similar but with lots of sun and sand this time around.

Unfortunately, this weekend, the M25 is closed on a stretch very relevant to us for the first time since 1986. Our flight from Gatwick is a little after 6 o’clock tomorrow evening and there is chaos to at least some degree around the closed section so discretion being the better part of valour we’ll leave in plenty of time.

Whilst we’re away Menna and Andy will take care of Taliesin and Pero so they’re in expert hands.

We’ve booked return flights for Monday 1st April which gives us 12 days to walk the 270 km. Should be more than we need and we’ve booked accommodation in Santiago for the Saturday and Sunday so perhaps we’ll have time for a quick trip out to Muxia again 🤞.
