Spain April 2023

It’s Monday, 3rd April and we leave on Wednesday 12th. We’re going to drive to Folkestone, pick up the eurotunnel train and assuming all goes to plan, arrive in Calais some 35 minutes later.

We’ve a trip to Havant arranged for this coming Thursday to sort out the dog health and vaccination papers. With Brexit the gift that keeps giving, it’s far more complicated now to travel abroad with dogs (and expensive). A vet in Havant specialises in sorting out the necessary paperwork. They’ve been sent details on the dogs ahead of time by our vets in Oxford and apparently all that is necessary in Havant is to confirm that the dogs are micro chipped correctly, are healthy and we should receive the paperwork. Fingers crossed that it really is as straightforward as that. Oh, and we pay them £100+.

We’ve booked accommodation in Rouen for the Wednesday night and an apartment in Aracena in Andalucía (a short distance north east of Seville) from the 18th to the 22nd. We’ll sort out the remaining accommodation as and when we arrive at wherever that is. This is going to be very flexible trip. We’re hoping that we might fit in a short Camino with the dogs but it rather depends on weather, accommodation etc. possibly from Porto to Santiago. Possibly from Santiago to Finisterre. We’ll see.

Definitely time to take a break from the uk.
