Zubiri

Again, another good day.

Since the route today was not much more than 21 km we decided to get up late, grab breakfast at 7 am and head out around 8. Which is exactly what we did.

8 o’clock this morning

There’s not a lot to say about this stretch. It’s a star 3 which suggests a few icky sections but it’s only 20.4 km so fairly short. We stopped for breakfast in Espinal having failed to find anywhere open in Burguette.

Stunningly good mushroom pizza

The guy serving had been up since 3 am preparing food. He was an interesting chap full of the joys of reading Marcus Aurelius, clearly something of a philosopher.

We saw this gorgeous butterfly

Stunning

And indeed lots of wonderfully coloured butterflies as we walked past hedgerows and corn fields.

Shortly after we suddenly became aware of the most astonishing sight I’ve ever seen in the sky – cloud rainbows …

Wow!!!
Wow++
Even more wow!!!

The colours spread slowly across the whole of the central region of clouds that we could see. It was the most astonishing display. Take a look at https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloud_iridescence for an explanation.

The remainder of the journey to Albergue Suseia was uneventful but Sara, the owner and sole employee at the Albergue was a superb host and an incredible cook. In most albergues you would struggle to find the vegetables amongst the mush, but her food was of the very highest standard. All in all, a perfect end to the day.

Buen camino
