Frances 2022 …

It’s Friday 3rd June and we’re preparing for the next Camino, this time intending to walk from St. Jean to Santiago in one fell swoop. Alistair and Rachel have flown out to Bilbao where they’ll spend the next few days before travelling across to St. Jean on Tuesday next. They’re spending the night in St. Jean before heading up the Napoleon route, stopping in Aubergue Borda on Wednesday for the night before walking in to Roncevalles the next morning.

Bon voyage !

Dorothy and I are leaving Oxford on Tuesday 7th, catching the 11:02 train to Paddington and then moving quickly on to St. Pancras to catch our train which leaves for Paris at 14:31. We’ll stay the night in Paris near Gare Montparnasse before leaving from there and arriving in St. Jean on Wednesday afternoon. We’ll stay in the same hotel as Alistair and Rachel, only a day later. We’ll take our time, pop into the pilgrims office for a new Compostela before revisiting le chat perche for dinner. The intention is to leave St Jean early on Thursday morning, stopping in Orisson for breakfast before hopefully catching up with Alistair and Rachel before arriving in Roncevalles.

We’ve booked the Albergue (+ dinner) for the night, should be ok – at least we’ll not be sleeping in the old pigsty this time.

I’ll update with pics as the journey unfolds.
