P&O

En route to Calais.

Supposedly I have WiFi, courtesy of a £2 scratch card but this last out of focus, shot through the window image is taking an inordinate time to upload.

We’re pootling off to the continent, got to get away from a country in the depths of a collective insanity. We’ll head south, perhaps to pick up the Camino Norte from San Sebastián or alternatively to walk the three days we’ve missed on the Frances. Or even more radical, perhaps we’ll head for Limoges early and spend the time helping Cecile. We’ll decide as we get closer to Spain.

In any event, on the way home we’ll pop into Limoges and we’ll bring Raphael back home with us for a 10 day deep immersion in the English language.

We’ll try to get to Rouen tonight. We’ve had a decent meal in the Brasserie onboard so we’re fine to make tracks. Dorothy drove to Dover; I’ll take it from here.

Bon voyage.

Update: we’ve made it to a kyriad hotel a few km north of Rouen. (Relatively) cheap and cheerful. Our route south takes us through St Jean d’Angely which coincidentally is where Cecile and Frank live. Even more remarkably, Angharad et al are popping across there for lunch tomorrow from their holiday in La Rochelle, so maybe we’ll all get to break bread together 😀
