The start of today’s journey.

And in contrast, the view from the porch of tonight’s albergue.

We’ve had a very pleasant stroll today from Leon. Plenty of stops for coffee with an avocado and tomato sandwich for lunch saw us make excellent progress over the 20km of today’s route. There’s an initial 10km stretch tomorrow with no access to food or water but thereafter there are villages every 4 or 5 km to keep us well fed and watered. It’s a little under 30km to Astorga but that shouldn’t prove to be a problem for any of us given today’s experiences.
Not much to say about the walk. The weather was cool but pleasant, the path clear and easy underfoot with views of snow clad mountains in the distance. All being well we should be in amongst them before the end of Monday when we should arrive in Rabanal. The London based confraternity of St. James looks after one of the albergues in Rabanal. They don’t have double rooms but we should probably stay there nevertheless.
There were many examples of this interesting plant alongside the path. It felt as soft as it looks, reminded me of a very soft cloth.

Not much else to say. I’m looking forward to getting closer to the mountains in Galicia.
Just saw the tower on the local church.

Those are bloody impressive stork nests.
