We’ve stopped for the evening in a pleasant hostel in Fromista. There are a small number of albergues in Fromista but we’re used to having our own room so it’s worth the extra for the privacy. The heat is incredible. Whereas in the UK you’d expect the temperature to start falling as evening approaches, here you hit maximum at around 7 o’clock. It’s an oven outside, cool and refreshing inside.
The last section to Fromista was pretty much without shade of any description. We trudged for long stretches along the bank of a large canal, water from which was being pumped to irrigate large fields of sunflowers and what looked like beet of some description. As the canal passed Fromista it dropped precipitously through a small lock.

Very impressive stone work.

We’ve had a decent, better than normal pilgrim’s dinner and are now settling down for the night. The current plan is to have a fairly relaxed day tomorrow, find a nice albergue and chill for the afternoon and evening. That means an early start, out with the first rays of morning.
